Source?

Switching gears to the fast approaching Purim, I need help finding a Makor for a new post.
Melech in this post claims that the Chacham Tzvi is the source for highlighting the letters of the Shem throughout the Megilla
The owner of the megillah pictured here had the sofer put three dots on top of every word that hints at Hashem’s name. The source for this is from the Chacham Tzvi. I will hopefully bring the exact place that this is brought down.
I can't find the Makor - does anyone one knows and can you provide a link from Shut Hacham Tzvi which is available in Hebrewbooks.

  1. I'm glad someone raised this point. I have heard as well that the Chocham Tzvi speaks about this but I am still looking for the makor as well.

  2. This is a really good question! I went looking for the makor a few years ago and didn't have much success. The Kisrei Osios doesn't even bring this as a valid minhag, so I assumed it was something that one sofer was mechadesh and that just "caught on."

    It isn't in the writings of the Chachom Tzvi though (unless I completely missed it!). It could be a masorah from him or from one of his unpublished manuscripts - a huge amount of the Chocham Tzvi's kesavim are either unpublished or have been lost (much of the Shu"t Chocham Tzvi still exists in unpublished manuscript form).

    1. The Yaavetz siddur only mentions that one should be mechaven to the shemos in the roshei and sofei teivos. This is also mentioned in the Ari and the siddur of Komarno as well as other sources. The Alya Rabba only mentions the minhag to read those verses in a special way.

      I think what YK is asking for is the actual makor for the minhag (though, discouraged by the Kesses - Thanks Bais HaStam) of writing or marking the roshei and sofei Teivos. For what its worth, I don't think there is such a makor. I've never found one and would still love to know if one exists. It seems most likely some sofer saw the references, in particularly the Yaavetz siddur, and decided to make it easier to be mechaven to the sheimos by writing their letters large.
