Dear Readers and Members, The forum has been down for over 6 months because the domain name (www.stamforum.com) lapsed and it is no longer available to re purchase. Although this forum is now defunct (it has morphed into several whatsapp groups), I have had many requests to put it back online because it contains so much information (over 1,800 posts and thousands of comments in the discussions, on a wide range of topics related to STa"M). I have therefore put the forum back online at blogger, so the address is www.stamforum.blogspot.com. The forum lasted for a decade...not a bad effort! It was pretty popular back in the days before whatsapp and managed to receive over a million hits in it's short life. It was one of the only organised forums in the STa"M world and definitely the largest in it's heyday. ReplyDeleteTHE ONLY TIME IT IS A SAFEK IS IF THE MEZUZOS WERE TAKEN DOWN BEFORE SHKIYA AND PUT UP AFTER TZES. BUT THE NEXT DAY IS DEFINITELY CHAYEV A BRACHA

ReplyDeleteI am not clear whats the halacha if the mezuzos are not marked to be put back on the same place.
הרב מדברצין בעל באר משה ז"ל היה אומר שאין לברך רק ורק אם בעל המזוזה עומד כל זמן מול הסופר מתחלה עד סוף הבדיקה ומחזירם מיד. דוקא בצורה זאת אין צריך לברך, אבל אם הלך ללמוד הרי הסיח דעתו וחייב שוב לברך.

ReplyDeleteFrom the lashon of the Aruch Hashulchan 289:4 it implies only next day one makes a new bracha.See also his comparison with mezuzahs to taking off a talis.
ReplyDeleteR" Ovadiah Yosef holds that one always makes a bracha on re e fixing mezuzahs even for the same day.(see the sefer Sechel Tov sif katan 26 and 27).
In general often there is a reason to make a new blessing in any case, either because the mezuza was posul or upside down or posted incorrect according to halacha.
