Computer program

I would like to buy a computer program that checks sta"m and I'm looking for advice for which program to get and how to get it etc.

    Have you considered using the Vaad's checking system? It may be more affordable (the software can be a big layout upfront) and also helps to support the work of the Vaad. R' Shmiel Traube (on this forum - Bais HaStam) can provide you with a lot of practical info on using it, registering, etc.

    I would love info on that too. As I am not a professional sofer, the investment for the software is cost-prohibitive.

    most people who buy the program buy Tor's program called Tikkun Sofrim

    There is a program called Keshet Hasofer and is produced by a sofer in Betar Ilit.

    It is reasonably priced and is designed for "as you go checking". They are very responsive to questions.
    It's not designed for checking an entire Sefer Torah at once but rather to catch any errors before you get too far along.

I recently tried this kosher ink for my rapidograph and I am extremely pleased with it. It does not clog the nib like other kosher rapidograph inks, and it's very dark and strong. It's at least as good as the Rotring commercial grade rapidograph inks (of course these can only be used with batch numbers that have been lab tested and  approved kosher),  and in addition you do not need to add a drop of regular Sta"m ink (as per the instruction of the Shevet Halevi, which is messy and time consuming).  I was wondering if anyone else had an opinion or comments with regards to their experience with this ink...

Ink, Kosher vs. non-Kosher

We all know that there is no ancient source that requires ink to be מן המותר בפיך . Possibly, as said here before, because in the olden days ink was always  מן המותר בפיך and the question was never raised. It was probably self-evident. Nowadays, no decent Rav will approve an ink which is not מן המותר בפיך  . Who was the first one to raise this question? Was it raised because of animal ingredients or because of non-kosher wine?
