Last week I posted some thoughts in response to a public lecture given by Rabbi Reuvain Mendlowitz regarding  Ksav Chabad (the Alter Rebbe's ksav). I felt he did not represent the issue fairly, and since I had received questions about it from a number of people I felt it made sense to write a general response. After I posted my response on this forum, Rabbi Mendlowitz reached out to me by email and we ended up having a respectful and productive email exchange regarding the relevant issues surrounding Ksav Chabad. His position is a lot clearer to me now, and I think he also took certain things on board that I clarified with him. The purpose of the Stam Forum (at least back in it's heyday before all the whats app groups took over)  was to connect sofrim from around the world, to promote achdus and build bridges, as well as to offer support and advice. In that spirit, I felt  I should write a follow up post, to clarify some of the issues and misconception...

The latest version of דיו לנצח is #295. It writes very well.

The ink flows well, is extremely black, and is shiny.

DeleteBeautiful! Is this your ksav?
DeleteAlso, can you share what changed? I have some old Dyo Lanetzach somebody gave me and it flows well but is a dull black, not shiny.
This is not my ktav.
DeleteThe shine depends a lot on the exact type of עשן used. I stopped using the non-shiny עשן and replaced it with a kind that maintains a nice shine and is also a stronger and darker black.
What does your dyo cost? I'm looking to finally start practicing tzurat ha'otiot with practice klaf and dyo, but as I'm not yet writing sta"m, I have to pay attention to cost, rather than kashrut.
DeleteIn the US it costs $33 for a 130g bottle. Shipping in the US is free.
DeleteIn other counties you add only the actual shipping cost.
In Israel - contact one of the sellers listed here.
You can also email me at the email listed here.

The cost of the ink is nothing compared to all other expenses involved in the profession of STAM.
I have been using it for about three years now. I have been quite satisfied. I find it to flow much better than others and mechikos are much less cumbersome.

ReplyDeleteThank You all
ReplyDeleteI just checked a pair of tefilin 34 mm yad and 24 mm rosh -it was beautiful-I didnt even realize it was dio lanetzach until the sofer tod me
ReplyDeleteI have been using it for about 5 years, it takes time to get used to it, but the results are amazing: very black letters, crack proof, water proof. Since I started to use it it's only getting better, the last bottle I got was #286 and it was very good, looking forward to get the latest version #295.
