NOW THE QUESTION IS:
A REGEL REISH SHOULDN'T BE TOO FULL KULMUSIM
SIZE OF YUD IS LARGER THEN KULMUS-PROBABLY KULMUS AND HALF
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT ONE AND A HALF KULMUSIM IS BDIEVED BUT ITS SUPPOSED TO BE SHORTER THAN 2 KULMUSIM.
THREE EXPLANATIONS:
1)the word bdieved means should be longer but not that the os is bdieved after the fact
2)can we explain רגל הריש קצר כמו"רגל" היוד
3)can we explain יריכה יהיה קצר" מגגה"כדי

My understanding from Rav Friedlander is that according to the MB, a kulmus and a bit is required and the "bit" is literally that, which would be less than a 1/2 kulmus.
ReplyDeleteWhether this Reish is kosher according to the MB would require measuring but at first glance it seems very close to just a kulmus.
ReplyDeletePerhaps ask the sofer who wrote these parshiyos, he is still practising and is a very respected older sofer. Since they are his parshiyos, and the person who owns them likely bought them from him because he relies on him and trusts him as a sofer, perhaps he should be given the chance to pasken on this. If you email me privately I can give you his details.
While according to the MB this is a serious issue, most hold that a kulmus suffices (and if I recall correctly, Rav YM Stern says even a little less than a kulmus suffices) and many poskim are mekel, in which case, the Reish may be kosher and can be extended.
