A place for English speaking sofrim (scribes), magihim (examiners), rabbis and vendors of Stam (Torah, Tefillin and Mezuzah scrolls) from around the world to communicate, share ideas, ask questions and offer support and advice.
Are there poskim that permit shaving off the bottom of a Sefer Torah that is full of rips, in order to make it look nicer? I've seen it done and can't find a Matir.
I'd think there'd not be a heter to trim for the sake of appearance and if there's concern of further tearing, it can be fixed by patching.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that too, but I can't find it in print or any name who said it. Reb Menashe Klien has a long tishuva assering.
