Ink between heads is dark. Question is only if enough of the rosh is recognizable?

    The way the image is appearing on my screen, it seems as though there is a kav connecting the two reshin, and the bottom is filled with dyo.
    So again quoting the Yeriat Shlomo Ot Tzadi seifim 4&5:
    נגע הראשין זה בזה בנגיעה דקה וניכרת צורתה, פסולה. ומותר להפריד הנגיעה בתפילין ומזוזות גם כשכתב אח"כ ואם לא המשיך לכתוב, או בס"ת, טוב להחמיר לבטלה מצורתה.
    קו דיו עובר בין שני הראשין, פסולה, ומותר להפריד הנגיעה, וכן נוהגים בין בתפילין ומזוזות ובין בס"ת
    So it is going to depend on how thick that negiah is. Its hard to tell from the pic. If it is full I think you are in trouble. It is also important to note that according to many Sephardi opinions the separation will render them only Kosher B'diavad, which means according to Rav Ovadiah one is yotzei on putting on Tefillin but may not make a berakah over them.

    Regarding the bottom bit seif 14
    התמלא כל חללה בדיו פסולה. וכשיש היכר מושב שמשוך קצת לשמאל, יש להכשיר.

    Clearly it bottom extends out and so retains its form as a Tzadi, any work there would simply be to improve hidur.

I recently tried this kosher ink for my rapidograph and I am extremely pleased with it. It does not clog the nib like other kosher rapidograph inks, and it's very dark and strong. It's at least as good as the Rotring commercial grade rapidograph inks (of course these can only be used with batch numbers that have been lab tested and  approved kosher),  and in addition you do not need to add a drop of regular Sta"m ink (as per the instruction of the Shevet Halevi, which is messy and time consuming).  I was wondering if anyone else had an opinion or comments with regards to their experience with this ink...

Ink, Kosher vs. non-Kosher

We all know that there is no ancient source that requires ink to be מן המותר בפיך . Possibly, as said here before, because in the olden days ink was always  מן המותר בפיך and the question was never raised. It was probably self-evident. Nowadays, no decent Rav will approve an ink which is not מן המותר בפיך  . Who was the first one to raise this question? Was it raised because of animal ingredients or because of non-kosher wine?
