Dear Readers and Members, The forum has been down for over 6 months because the domain name (www.stamforum.com) lapsed and it is no longer available to re purchase. Although this forum is now defunct (it has morphed into several whatsapp groups), I have had many requests to put it back online because it contains so much information (over 1,800 posts and thousands of comments in the discussions, on a wide range of topics related to STa"M). I have therefore put the forum back online at blogger, so the address is www.stamforum.blogspot.com. The forum lasted for a decade...not a bad effort! It was pretty popular back in the days before whatsapp and managed to receive over a million hits in it's short life. It was one of the only organised forums in the STa"M world and definitely the largest in it's heyday. I would like to thank all those who cobtributed over the years, particularly the early members who helped build it up. Thanking you all, Eli
Ink, Kosher vs. non-Kosher

We all know that there is no ancient source that requires ink to be מן המותר בפיך . Possibly, as said here before, because in the olden days ink was always מן המותר בפיך and the question was never raised. It was probably self-evident. Nowadays, no decent Rav will approve an ink which is not מן המותר בפיך . Who was the first one to raise this question? Was it raised because of animal ingredients or because of non-kosher wine?

Not mamash the same. The Beis here seems somewhat 'worse'
I agree that a tinok should work. The thick high Ekev of (Ksav A. Rebbe) throws it off from assuming to take the status of a nun.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion is that a tinok will NOT help since the difference of a beis and nun is that the nuns moshav is wide.I WOULD BE IT MACHSHIR FOR A NUN WITH A TINOK.Mikdash Me'at brings Levush, Pri Megadim and explains Darkei Moshe that nun with wide head is kosher if moshav is wider.
ReplyDeleteyehoshua:i think we have wrong address for shevet halevi

ReplyDeleteThe Mikdash Maat Ois ב: sif katan 10 explains when in doubt if the beis could look like a nun because the gag is shorter than the moshav a tinok helps.
ReplyDeleteSee also the Mishnas Sofrim Ois ב that explains when in doubt since the gag is very short we go after a tinok.
In addition to this, the high thick ekev of the ב helps.
I asked R' Shammai Gross today. He said mitzad the short rosh and problem of looking like a Nun it's ok. In regards to looking like a proper beis he also said is ok -- no shailos tinnok.
ReplyDeleteI think a tinok can be asked.
ReplyDeleteI think a tinok should be asked.
Mitzad it maybe being like a nun or if it's a proper beis?
ReplyDeleteI would say this: it doesn't look at all like a nun. But since the gag is short and a tinok may not recognize it as a beis, he might take a further step thinking its a messed-up nun. so both are correct!
